Readlang + Quizlet：Effective Way to Memorize Vocabulary

Memorizing vocabulary has always been a frustrating part in learning foreign languages. I am going to recommend two software : Readlang and Quizlet. In combination of both software, I believe you can learn new word more effectively.

Readlang (http://readlang.com/) is a website where you can read public text or just upload your own text.

It also has Chrome's reading assistant plugin. After installing this plugin, you can use Readlang in any website.

The section of “Flashcards” in Readlang is a delighting approach to help users memorize the words that they do not know. However, the use of multimedia glosses has taken a large part of the second language education. While there is only printed gloss in Readlang which is clearly not enough for you to memotize vocabulary.

MOHAMMED ALI MOHSEN pointed out several significant findings of the effects that multimedia glosses have on the second language learners. In the six studies he listed in his article, namely Liu et al.(2003), Zhao(2003), Felix(2005), Hubbard(2005), Stockwell(2007), Abraham(2008), we can carefully draw the conclusion that in general the multimedia glosses have positive effects on the second language learners. To make up for this deficiency, I recommend Quizlet(https://quizlet.com) which is a multimedia flashcard website where you can create your own study set and you can use different ways to help you memorize vocabulary.

First, you need to export your wordlist from Readlang.

Second, click on create on Quizlet and choose "+ Import from Word, Excel, Google Docs, etc."

After creating your study set, you can find them on the left "Your Study Sets"

Now, begin your lessons with different learning models

Flashcard

Write

Spell

Test

and two games

Match

Gravity

Both of them have software for smartphone.With these two tools to collect new words, memorizing vocabulary can be very efficient.
